Antique silver pin dish by William Comyns, London 1887
Product Information
This is a delightful little trinket dish in heavy gauge silver by William Comyns, the renowned late 19th century London silversmith. It is elaborately chased with a bird amongst foliage and has a blank cartouche and fluted rim. The hallmarks on the base date the manufacture to London in 1887, date letter M. The maker's mark is less distinct with only the .C being clear but I don't think there is any doubt that this is the work of William Comyns. The diameter of the dish is 7cm or 2 3/4 inches, and the weight is 28.5g. It is in excellent undamaged condition with only minor surface scratches to the base. This is a lovely quality item, worthy of addition to a collection of antique English silver. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
